Unfortunately, you can’t just willy-nilly write random words down and hope people read it, you need to have a purpose behind your website.

This is called finding your websites “niche”, and it’s the reason anyone is going to visit your amazing content.

Examples of Niche Websites that YOU Can Build with the Right Website Ideas

Honestly, go to google. Type in anything you can think of and you’ll find a niche website.

Thisiswhyimbroke.com is a great example.

This is why im broke screenshot header, website ideas, make a website

This website is very simple, but to the point.
They’ve compiled a HUGE list of weird and interesting products that could cause someone to go broke.

I’m totally kidding about the going broke part, and so are they. But they have a huge list of really fun and unique items that I could spend hours
browsing.

You’ll want to know the scary thing about this niche website example?

They make a lot of money on this website.

Over $20,000 per month to be honest.

If you don’t follow the link above, it explains how most of, if not all, of the items on the website link back to Amazon. When they do this, they earn
what’s called an “affiliate commission”. More on this later in the article.

This commission is paid for by Amazon, compensating the website for referring a customer to Amazon. It’s a win-win for both parties involved. Amazon gets advertisements that are only paid out when a purchase is made. The website wins out because it’s making money for referring a customer.

Amazon is widely considered the #1 affiliate program in the world. You can become an affiliate and advertise ANY product on Amazon’s website.

Website Ideas Creation: Make a List of Interests, Problems, and Fears and Research Google Traffic

Do you have an idea of what you’re business will revolve around yet? Maybe you do and that’s great! If you don’t, that’s okay too. We’ll figure it out together.

First things first, we need to do a little brainstorming. Keep these things in the back of your mind: passions, problems and fears.

Pat Flynn from Smartpassiveincome.com has a great article on finding a niche that may interest you enough in creating a business around it.

Brainstorming Website Ideas Guides:

Make a list of your 7 passions/interests, 7 problems and 7 fears.

In his guide, Pat uses 7-7-7 as his numbers for each list of topics that he likes for brainstorming website ideas. Honestly, you could go as high as 10 for
each and be fine. Just write anything and everything that comes to mind. The idea of this exercise is to write down on paper exactly what you’re most
passionate about, and build from it.

Creating a mind map or brainstorm of these different topics will help spur your creativity, and also really get you narrowed down to what you’re really
interested in.It’s advisable to always build your business around something you’re passionate about and have plenty of knowledge on.

Brainstorming & Mind Map Tools to Generate Website Ideas:

Now we need to narrow this list of website ideas down to about 5-10 of our favorite items.

Why are we doing this? Because now we need to do some research to see what topic will fit the best and this can be very time consuming and is the MOST
important aspect of the whole process!

Steps to Choosing a Niche Topic: Researching Keywords and Their Traffic

Okay, so you have your list of about 10 items right?

We need to get that list of 10 website ideas down to ONE. Yep, that’s right. We’re choosing the main topic of your online website right now.

Research, research, RESEARCH!

Not every niche is going to be a good topic to build around. We need to figure out which topics people are also having issues with or are talking about online.

More importantly, how many, people are also looking for this particular topic or keyword. To find this number out, you can pull the number straight from
the source. Google.

Finding the number of times a particular keyword is searched is extremely important to the success of your business. If someone isn’t searching for this keyword on Google, chances are you won’t be very successful trying to get anyone to find your website, let alone read
it.

What are Keywords and Why are They So Important to Your Website?

A keyword is a particular word or phrase that helps Google and other search engines get an idea of what your website and content is all about. They’ll then provide your link to the just WAITING to visit your website.

Keywords are what make the world wide web go round’. How else will the search engines find you?

Choosing the right keywords to target in your online venture, is the make or break moment of any online business. Thankfully, there are some great tools available to use!

More specifically, the Google Keyword Planner.

This tool is a complete lifesaver, as it’s not only extremely useful, but also free to use. There are plenty of fancy programs you can check out if you
feel like, but this one is really all you need.

Google Keyword Planner
  1. Using your existing or new Gmail account to sign up for Google Adwords.

  1. Navigate to the Keyword Planning section, underneath TOOLS.

  1. Enter the topic from your website ideas list, I’ll use an example of “Fantasy Football”.

    1. Click “Get Ideas”

    1. Select Tab “Keyword Ideas”

    1. Analyze the results. Is there a lot of people looking for this particular topic and related topics?

    1. Use the general rule of thumb that you want to have at least a few thousand searches per month. If results per month are lower than 3,000, I would move on to the next topic on your paper.

    1. Rinse, Wash, Repeat, RESEARCH

Pro tip: The more specific a word or phrase is, the better chance you are of being found. Don’t just look for “Baking Goods”, look for things like “Gluten Free Baked Goods” or “Easy No Bake Cheesecake”. This is called using a “Long-tail keyword”.
